How Chronicle Tales works
The loop
- WriteYou type the next beat — what you do, say, or notice. Not a menu of canned options.
- NarrateThe model you chose replies. The story continues in that voice.
- RememberPeople, places, and facts stay in the chronicle — so the tenth hour still knows the first.
The tale is enough
Write, narrate, remember — that is a full turn. Portraits, action images, read-aloud voice, and theme music are extras. You choose how much of that you want in Play Settings: off when you only want the story, on when you want the room to speak or the face to update.
As people and places enter the chronicle, you can gather portraits and plates so the tale has faces and rooms — for what you discover and what you invent. You choose when. The chronicle still runs if every extra is quiet. Media is spice, not the product.
One wallet: Markers
There are no packs of “10 images” or “100 scenes.” You hold Markers. New accounts get 300 Markers to start and 30 each day on Free (unused days do not stack). Paid plans grant more each month; Marker packs refill an active paid wallet. When you run low, you top up — then spend on the turns, models, and extras you actually use.
You pick the model that speaks. Censored and uncensored models exist; you are responsible for what you ask and what you keep. Replies and pictures come from external providers — we do not write or paint them ourselves. See pricing.
How you start
Begin from a listed scenario — official packs or community ones other players published — or create your own / throw yourself in. The scenario browser lives in the game after you create an account; this site is not a full public catalog.
Saving a pack keeps it private. Publishing is a separate act: you set a content mark, choose whether others may copy, and list it. Adult listings are hidden by default unless a player turns that off.
Scenarios shared, tales private
A scenario is a starting world. A tale is your playthrough. Scenarios may be listed for others to find. Your tale stays private — no public playthrough gallery, no user-to-user chat. Single-player, 18 or older.
You write the next beat
A tale is a private interactive story. You type what you do, say, or notice. The narrator replies with what happens next — in the voice of the model you chose.
On Free, a turn is consumed when the narrator has streamed a reply. On paid plans, turns and extras spend Markers. Failed attempts before narration do not consume a turn or Markers. Undoing a turn (Regret) does not refund usage.
The world remembers
The difference from a disposable chatbot is the chronicle. People, places, and facts you establish are kept and fed back in. A name you gave in the first hour should still be that name in the tenth. That is the product: interactive fiction with a persistent world, not a prompt that forgets.
You can still surprise the story. You cannot rely on the model inventing a consistent world unless the chronicle is there to constrain it. We store the tale on our side so the next beat has somewhere to stand. Optional art for cast and place follows that same memory — it does not replace it.
What it is not
It is not multiplayer chat and not a feed of other people's play. Listed scenarios are a start shelf; the chronicle you write stays yours. It is early access: which models are available, Marker costs, and Free vs paid may still move.
