London released the name of shortlisted players for Best FIFA Awards, on Monday 3rd 2018. Anticipations are obviously high, winners will be chosen with combination votes of fans, national team coaches and captains. According to the recent chat between former Machester UTD goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel, and CCN, he anticipates that the best one should win and indicates that Modric could take the trophy home.
Modric has an amazing history from being a child refugee to a world cup captain. He majorly contributes and won millions of hearts with his amazing success to bring Croatia into the final for the first time. “Warlike situation and fire everywhere drove him to become one of the best in the world.“ says, 36-year-old childhood friend Marijan Buljat, who happened to play and train with Modric, while growing up. In 2015, he became the first Croatian voted on to the FIFPro XI. “Luka Modric was so incredibly good in every department of how you have to judge a good player,” Schmeichel told CNN Sport.
However, with Mohamed Salah’s record-breaking debut in Antfield, scoring 44 goals and spear-heading his side’s journey to the Champions League final, he could actually be a stiff competition to Messi, Ronaldo and Modric. The best player will be announced on 24rth September 2018 and everyone is keeping a close eye on every new name to make history.
Being in the best goal-keeper selection, Schmeichel mentioned that no goal-keeper outperformed to be in the FIFA Best Player Award list yet, though they are doing tremendously good and there will be a day when people will look up for goalkeeper’s job.
